Fabric Reinforcement

Knowing the Right Reinforcing or Protective Fabric to Use for the Best Solution

Knowing the right fabric to use for the best solution and making recommendations provides added value to our customer. Customers often come to Rubbercraft with product or component needs not knowing that a fabric reinforcement may improve performance. Rubbercraft's engineers and technicians work with a wide variety of different reinforcing materials from fiberglass to polyester to aramids and ceramics to graphite reinforced fabric to pre-pregs that have a resin system already incorporated into the reinforced material.

Many of the components that we provide to our customers use applications where the rubber is subjected to repetitive compression or stretching, an application which is constantly being put into some sort of a deforming condition. We have the know-how to select the specific fabric which will provide additional strength, rigidity, durability, and longevity. We are expert in the use of certain fabrics such as for flame resistance to improve the performance. We often bond fabric for fire protection or for flame barriers. In some cases, our engineers will bond fabrics to the elastomer or rubber to reduce the amount of friction that is imposed on different surfaces. We can use the fabric as a protective barrier to prevent debris from penetrating the rubber or for ablation and wear-resistance. We can also bond the fabric to stiffen a section if less compression on a particular part is required or incorporate   different types of fabric into a component.
